There are a number of ways for organizations and individuals to participate in and support the Choose Civility iniative in Howard County.
1. Get started
You can get started immediately with some of the following suggestions:
Review the Principles of Civility and begin modeling the respective behaviors. Read any book related to civility - Check out these booklists of civility-related topics for children, teens, and adults. Put a car magnet on your vehicle - Get a free car magnet at any Howard County Library branch or order online and put it on your vehicle as a reminder to you and to encourage your fellow drivers to be more considerate. Participate in a Choose Civility event or activity. Teach children to Choose Civility using the new Civility Resource Guide wiki Become an Alliance Partner or Sponsor - Fill out this form or call 410.313.7763 for more information. Join a Committee - become a member of one of the four standing committees: Partnerships – develops and guides new prospects, partnership programs, and criteria and benefits, all in support of current and future Choose Civility activities, events and tools.
Sponsorships – develops and guides new prospects, sponsorship opportunities, and criteria and benefits, all in support of current and future Choose Civility activities, events and tools. Events and Activities – develops and guides current and future activities and events, including Choose Civility Week and the annual Symposium. Marketing and Communications – develops and supports internal and external communications strategies for Choose Civility events and activities as well as its partnership and constituent relationships. 2. Civility Resource Guide - Teaching children to Choose Civility This Civility Resource Guide Wiki is designed to help our young neighbors understand how to "Choose Civility" and how it impacts their lives and the lives of those around them. Find ideas for character education, games, good books and other activities and suggestions to assist in introducing children to the Priniciples of Civility and how to incorporate the into their young lives. 3. Signup Complete this brief online form and tell us how you would like to become involved. Choose Civility will respond to you within five business days. 4.
